The purpose of the Girls' Junior America's Cup is to bring girls together from various states and countries fostering new friendships and mutual respect. It promotes better understanding of our regional history and customs, allows us to learn about different cultures, while demonstrating we are more alike than different. And so it was for our four young ladies representing Northern California as they journeyed to the Waverley Country Club in Portland, Oregon for the 2007 matches

The format counts three lowest scores each day and throws out the highest one. The opening round found Northern Cal in second place. Southern Cal posted such low scores lead by an astonishing 68, we were 8 strokes behind after the first day. The second day we stumbled allowing Hawaii to go ahead of us putting us in third place by two shots. Our goal was to bring home a medal, silver preferably since Southern Cal continued to post low scores and put all of the other 17 teams out of their reach. The final round was a typical Nor Cal effort with our girls grinding it out to bump Hawaii and go in second place and in line for the silver medal.

All in all the team had a wonderful time. It was a pleasure to be able to play Waverley, home of many USGA events with winners the like of Tiger Woods and Juli Inkster. Congratulations to our four young ladies for their fine play and for Nor Cal making a fashion statement each day as they are known to do..
