JGANC |
I know you are not aware, but I watched you play a few holes
at last year's JGANC/NCPGA Championship. I hope to see you play
in 2006. You are quite a solid young player. When did you start
playing golf? |
|
Ariana |
I started playing golf when I was 10 years old. |
|
JGANC |
Let's see, you turned 15 in March so you've been at this a few
years. How long have you been playing JGANC golf? |
|
Ariana |
I've been a member for four years. |
|
JGANC |
So far, which event has been your favorite? |
|
Ariana |
The Tokay Junior is my favorite. |
|
JGANC |
Tokay is a great event. Hopefully, this year you will play some
of the other outstanding tournaments on our calendar. You are
now eligible to make one of our teams. So far, what has been
your biggest accomplishment? |
|
Ariana |
Last summer, in 2005, I won an AJGA Nike in Temecula, CA by
ten strokes. I shot 72-72-73. |
|
JGANC |
Those are outstanding scores. Now you haven't won any JGANC events
by ten strokes, so I anticipate you'll make the attempt this
year. Have you set goals for 2006? |
|
Ariana |
My goal for 2006 is to keep improving my golf game and to
keep having fun. |
|
JGANC |
Those are great goals, and realistic ones too. I'm going to secretly
add winning a premier JGANC event. Do you play any other sports? |
|
Ariana |
No. |
|
JGANC |
Well, that was short and sweet. I guess you are strictly a golf
gal. Good for you. Is there anything else you enjoy doing besides
golf? |
|
Ariana |
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling
and reading. |
|
JGANC |
This has been fun Ariana. Hopefully our members know you a little
better now. Have a great 2006 and don't forget that secret goal
I tossed in. |
|
JGANC |
I've known you, Spencer, for several years. I remember you at
the Girls' State last year at Bayonet while your sister, Danielle,
was playing for the JGANC North Team. Now Danielle is in college
and you are carrying on the Cvitanov name. Any big plans for
2006? |
|
Spencer |
I plan to make new friends, travel more and improve my golf. |
|
JGANC |
Gee, those are great goals, Spencer. You have a great attitude.
What do you like best about the JGANC? |
|
Spencer |
It's fun to travel and meet new friends. |
|
JGANC |
I bet you have lots of friends on the JGANC tour. Actually, that's
what it is all about. Now, you've been playing lots of events.
Which one is your favorite? |
|
Spencer |
The Castlewood Junior is my favorite tournament. It's my favorite
because of the food and the activities are great. |
|
JGANC |
Ah, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. You are
right. It is a great event. In fact the Junior Advisors' gave
them an Appreciation Award for going above and beyond the call
of duty. So far, Spencer, what golf accomplishment are you most
proud? |
|
Spencer |
I think winning a playoff to finish first in the Little Linkers
Tournament of Champions. |
|
JGANC |
Well, congratulations. Now I expect you'll be winning in the
JGANC this year. Boy, now that you are 12 you'll be playing 18
holes. How long have you been a member of the JGANC? |
|
Spencer |
I've been a member for 3 years. |
|
JGANC |
What else do you enjoy doing besides golf? |
|
Spencer |
I like hanging out with my best friends, Zach and Joey. |
|
JGANC |
I bet they're happy to have you as a friend too. Keep up the
good work. See you on the links. |
|
JGANC |
Hi Kristen. We don't know each other and I have been looking
forward to meeting you. Tell me a little about yourself. |
|
Kristen |
I'm 15, a sophomore in high school and I live in Porterville. |
|
JGANC |
We've only had a few members from Porterville. I'm glad you are
with us. Hope you will spread the news about the JGANC and get
more juniors from your area involved. How long have you been
a member? |
|
Kristen |
I've been a member for 5 years. |
|
JGANC |
Well, that means you really know the ropes by now. Of all the
events you have played, which one is your favorite? |
|
Kristen |
My favorite is the San Joaquin Valley Junior. |
|
JGANC |
Great choice. The Paniccias do such a great job with that tournament.
I love the extras like the horserace. How did you get started
in golf in the first place? |
|
Kristen |
I was inspired by Tiger Woods' dad, Earl. I met him at the
1996 AT&T National Pro-Am. He gave me three bits of advice:
1) get a set of junior clubs, 2) find a coach that undertands
a girl's swing and 3) practice every day. |
|
JGANC |
I can now understand the inspiration. These are great suggestions
and obviously, you have followed them since you are such a good
golfer. Have you made some golf goals for 2006? |
|
Kristen |
My goal for 2006 is to break 70 and win more tournaments. |
|
JGANC |
Wow, 70, that is a big goal. Let me know if this happens. Of
course, I'll know if you do this in the JGANC. I'll keep my fingers
crossed.
Kristen, have you ever had anything funny happen to you while
playing golf? |
|
Kristen |
While playing at Airways last year during the Len Ross/Fresno
City Junior, I drove my tee shot over the green on a short par-4.
My second shot was off the 10th tee box and I missed it a little
because I had to hit it low under a tree. Well, my ball hit the
curb on the cart path and shot up onto the roof of the clubhouse.
It came back down within feet of where I had started, but under
a trash can. I took 3 free reliefs on that hole and only had
a bogey. |
|
JGANC |
Good grief, that's something for the Guinness Book of World Records.
I can just see this in my mind. I know it wasn't funny at the
time, but it sure is now. Thanks for sharing.
Before we close, what else do you enjoy doing besides golf? |
|
Kristen |
I like to sing, play my guitar and hang out with my friends. |
|
JGANC |
We have to close now, but I'd love to hear more about this guitar
playing. Maybe you could entertain while we're waiting for committees
to post scores at the tournaments.....only kidding. You'll have
to tell me about it at another time. Thanks Kristen for the interview. |
