We don't have many members from your area. It's nice to have
a represenative up your way. Since you live in the northern part
of the state, has it influenced your golf game? |
|
Max |
It hasn't because the seasons are wet and my home course doesn't
have a driving range. |
|
JGANC |
I'm glad you don't feel it has. It seems since it is wet and
with no driving range it would handicap your game a bit. Nevertheless,
you are a good player so practice must be on your agenda. |
|
Max |
I practice everyday and I do drills every three to four days. |
|
JGANC |
It sounds like it's working. When did you begin playing golf? |
|
Max |
My dad introduced me to the game when I was 2 years old. |
|
JGANC |
Do you have a model on the PGA tour? |
|
Max |
My model is Ernie Els because he has a great swing. |
|
JGANC |
Well, he certainly is a good model for you. You've been in the
JGANC for 8 years. What is your favorite event? |
|
Max |
My favorite is the Sally Pini Pasatiempo Memorial Junior. |
|
JGANC |
My, that would make her proud. She worked so hard on that tournament
and now her son and daughter are running the event in her memory.
Besides golf, what other activities do you enjoy? |
|
Max |
I enjoy baseball, football and basketball. |
|
JGANC |
A man of all sports. I just realized you are a fellow of few
words and if I don't watch it, I'll be talking more than you.
So we'll end the interiew with our very best wishes for continued
fine performances. Thanks, Max. |
|
JGANC |
It's nice to talk with you Daniela. I've watched you play many
times. How long have you been a JGANC member? |
|
Daniela |
I've been a JGANC member for 4 years. |
|
JGANC |
That means since you were about ten. And which tournament has
been your favorite? |
|
Daniela |
My favorite event is the California State Fair Junior in Sacramento. |
|
JGANC |
You are being loyal to your local tournament. You're right. It's
a great one. It is scheduled more or less at the end of our summer
calendar so it is a nice way to end a JGANC season. Have you
made some special friends in the JGANC? |
|
Daniela |
One of the main things I look forward to when I play in a
JGANC tournament is catching up with my friends that I only see
at these events. I do not want to name anyone for fear that I
might forget someone.....they all know who they are. |
|
JGANC |
You are a very wise young lady. By the time this interview appears
on our website, you'll no doubt have many new friends and we
don't want to leave them out. Tell me how you got started playing
golf. |
|
Daniela |
I started playing golf when I was seven years old. My parents
signed me up to play in the Little Linker Summer Program which
is part of the First Tee of Greater Sacramento. My first JGANC
event was the insurance Brokers of Sacramento tournament when
I was eleven. |
|
JGANC |
What are your goals for 2007? |
|
Daniela |
I have several goals for 2007. I plan on working hard on my
short game because I feel this is the area that needs improvement.
I plan on going to summer school so I will not play in very many
tournaments over the summer. My major goals are to play more
national and state events, win a JGANC premier event and win
a CIF State Championship with my St. Francis teammates. |
|
JGANC |
I'm sorry we won't see you out there this summer, but school
is always most important. Are you still practicing? |
|
Daniela |
I practice whenever I get a chance. I do not have a set schedule
so it is hard to incorporate a special routine. My goal right
now is to work on what my coach and dad indentifies as my weaknesses. |
|
JGANC |
Let's lighten this up a bit. Tell us, has anything funny happened
to you out on the course? |
|
Daniela |
The last funny thing I can remember happened to me last year
in the All Stars Championship. On one of the holes, there were
some electrical wires that crossed the tee box area. If your
shot hit the wire, you were able to re-hit without incurring
a penalty. I not only hit a wire once, but twice! |
|
JGANC |
That is a funny one. I can almost hear what you were thinking.......not
again! Tell us a little about Daniela off the golf course. |
|
Daniela |
I enjoy playing basketball, reading Manga books, watching
movies and if you ask my parents, talking on the phone and texting
friends. |
|
JGANC |
We award you the "Typical Female Teenager" award! Great
talking to you. Good luck in summer school. |
|
JGANC |
Lisa, you've been a JGANC member for three years now. What is
the best part about it? |
|
Lisa |
The best part of being a JGANC member is being able to see
new courses, meet new people and just being able to compete.
There just isn't a substitute for competition. |
|
JGANC |
Sounds like you have that competitive spirit. With that in mind
what are your goals for this year? |
|
Lisa |
My goals for 2007 are to beat all my scores from 2006 because,
to tell you the truth, they were pretty bad. |
|
JGANC |
Well, you've played in tournaments this year and it looks like
you are doing just fine. Do you attribute this to your practice
routine? |
|
Lisa |
I try and practice every day, but it can be hard with school
work and all. I don't really have a rountine. I just start from
the bottom, with a putter and work my way up. |
|
JGANC |
I ask everyone how they got started playing golf. Normally everyone
says their dad started them. How about you? |
|
Lisa |
I got started playing golf with my dad and just "bammin'"the
ball is what we called it. I didn't get serious, though, until
a lady pro at our golf course inspired me and we played every
Tuesday and Thursday. |
|
JGANC |
Goodness, I hope she knows what she has done and it is so nice
to acknowledge her. If you could play a round of golf with three
other LPGA pros, who would they be? |
|
Lisa |
If I could play a round with three other LPGA pros they would
probably be Lorena Ochoa because she has been working on her
flat swing like I have. I would also want Cristy Kerr because
she is a mom and a golfer and then Juli Inkster because she was
the first to play on the guys team just like me. |
|
JGANC |
What a great foursome that would be. Juli Inkster is a former
JGANCer and Lorena Ochoa played in the Girls America's Cup and
she is an outstanding young lady. Great choices! Let's pretend
they will all play with you at your favorite JGANC event. Where
would that be? |
|
Lisa |
That would be the Pepsi Junior. |
|
JGANC |
Tell us what you enjoy doing outside of golf. |
|
Lisa |
Besides golfing, the other activities I enjoy are hanging
out with my friends at the lake, burning debris piles at my family's
ranch and sleeping, for sure. |
|
JGANC |
Now that burning debris is an interesting activity. We're looking
forward to seeing you out on the fairways beating all of your
2006 scores. Good luck, young lady. |
