JGANC |
I've only known you a year, but I have been so impressed with
you, not only for your golf ability, but your sportsmanship.
We feel very lucky to have you as a JGANC member. You haven't
been in the United States very long. You joined the JGANC and
ended up being the Player of the Year. How do you feel about
this? Were you surprised? Did you think you could accomplish
such a feat in such a short time? |
|
Miguel |
Being the Player of the Year felt really good. I also felt
all the work and time I put into it absolutely paid off. I was
really surprised how I well I played throughout the year. I didn't
really expect that I would have such a successful year. |
|
JGANC |
You are from the Philippines. Tell us about golf in the Philippines
and how it compares with the United States. |
|
Miguel |
Junior golf in the Philippines is similar. The only difference
is the competition here in the United States is very tough. There
are so many talented players and this makes it a lot tougher
to win tournaments. In the Philippines we keep on seeing the
same faces throughout the season and we keep on playing with
the same people during the final round of every tournament. |
|
JGANC |
I'm not sure our JGANC members really appreciate the competition
here. We are so fortunate that competition only makes you better
and better. Did you set goals for 2006? |
|
Miguel |
My goal for 2006 is to shoot lower scores and be much more
consistent. Another goal is to win the overall championship at
the JGANC/NCGA Championship at Diablo Grande. |
|
JGANC |
I asked you that question prior to the event, and that goal didn't
quite happen. Nevertheless, you can feel good about your play
because you went all the way to the quarterfinals. You were also
medalist. In addition to that you have been selected to our 2006
Boys' Ameriica's Cup Team. Tell me, with all the events you play
which one is your favorite? |
|
Miguel |
My favorite is the JGANC/NCPGA Championship. |
|
JGANC |
It is a great event and a tough one. The course is tough, the
heat makes it tough and the competition is tough. Although I
know thiis answer, tell our membership how long you've been a
JGANC member? |
|
Miguel |
2006 is my second year. |
|
JGANC |
You are a great model for lots of members. You have proven if
you work hard, good things will happen. What else do you enjoy
doing besides golf? |
|
Miguel |
I enjoy hanging out with my friends such as Gable Ignacio
and Basil, Sasha and Louie Cruz . I also enjoy playing asketball
with Gable, but I never win! |
|
JGANC |
Aha, you have told me something about Gable I didn't know. Great
interview, Miguel. You are a super young man and we wish you
lots of wins in the future. |
|
JGANC |
Colton, you are a brand new member of the JGANC. How did you
hear about us? |
|
Colton |
My friend told me about it. |
|
JGANC |
We're glad he did. Now we hope you are participating in lots
of events and enjoying what we have to offer. Do you have any
expectations playing this first year? |
|
Colton |
My expectations are that I am thinking the tournaments are
professional and fun. |
|
JGANC |
I think you'll find all types of events so you'll learn this
year which events are your favorites and you'll want to return
to them next year. Have you set some goals? |
|
Colton |
My goals are to become better, to make my high school golf
team, meet new golfers and have a great summer. |
|
JGANC |
You'll have to let us know if playing the JGANC prepares you
for your high school golf team. I know you'll meet new golfers
and have a great summer. That just seems to be part of the JGANC.
Getting better also takes practice. How often do you practice
and do you have a special routine? |
|
Colton |
I try to practice at least once a week, but I know I should
practice more. I don't have a routine. |
|
JGANC |
I think being in the JGANC will motivate you to practice. What
do you feel is your biggest strength? |
|
Colton |
My biggest strength is off the tee. |
|
JGANC |
What else do you enjoy doing besides golf? |
|
Colton |
I like dirt biking. |
|
JGANC |
Wow, that's quite a combination. Watch out, Colton. We don't
want you injuring your arm/hand and then not being able to golf.
Well, welcome to the JGANC. We hope you have a great year with
us. |
