SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR! |
JGANC Director Len Ross presents Erik Kastmiler the 2007 Sportsmanship Award. |
The Len Ross Sportsmanship Award is named for a wonderful gentleman who is one of the founding fathers of the JGANC. The dictionary gives the meaning for sportsmanship as the qualities or conduct of a good sportsman, especially insistence on fair play accompanied by the capacity to win or lose gracefully, without arrogance in victory or whining in defeat. This definition fits Erik Kastmiler of Oakland to a "T." Known to be a quiet young man who has outstanding morals and values, Erik is always a welcomed addition to any foursome at our sanctioned events. Erik has also given back to the JGANC by serving on our Junior Advisory Board serving as Vice President this year. He was chairman of the Junior Advisors' Team Shoot Out. Erik plans to attend the Air Force Academy in the fall of 2008 looking forward to someday be a part of NASA. We wish him well. We will certainly miss him in the JGANC. Many outstanding juniors were nominated for this award. Finalists included Miguel Camitoc or Hayward, Tiffany Dong from Sacramento, Derrick Tao from Piedmont and Erik. Congratulations to these terrific young people. Your outstanding conduct is a model for us all. |
